Practical Tips & Caveats

Having a permit doesn’t guarantee vertical height clearance on a given route — you must verify clearances (bridges, overpasses). 

Overhang limits also matter: Washington law allows up to 3 feet front overhang and 15 feet rear overhang (measured from center of last axle) under certain conditions.

Local jurisdictions or city streets may have stricter limits than the state maximums. Always check for local ordinances.

Some permit types (e.g. manufactured homes) have different length allowances (e.g. up to 75 feet including tongue) under self-issued permit rules.
